Rapid and intense action. Excitement during the pains. CUTTING-SMARTING or BURNING- BITING PAINS; as if raw. VIOLENTLY ACUTE INFLAMMATION, or rapidly destructive. Discharge of bloody, acrid water. Violent tenesmus vesica and strangury. Painful discharge of a few drops of bloody urine, causing very severe sharp pain, as if a red-hot iron was passing along urethra : this pain was most acutely felt at membranous portion of canal, and in meatus urinariius. Violent burning, cutting pains in neck of bladder, extending to fossa navicularis, < before and after urinating. Violent pains in bladder with frequent urging ; intolerable tenesmus. Urging to urinate from smallest quantity of urine in bladder. Dribbling discharge, reddish, sometimes mixed with blood. Ardor urina. Before, during, and after urinating fearful cutting pains in urethra ; she must double herself and scream from pains. Burning, when urinating, and when not. Retention of urine, causing pain. Suppressed gonorrhoea. Sexual desire ; increased ; disturbing sleep at night. Frightful satyriasis ; violent, painful pria* ism, with excessive pains. Retained placenta or membranes, usually with painful urination. Burning in chest. Pain in loins, with incessant desire to urinate. Pain in loins, kidneys and abdomen, with such pain on urinating that he could not pass a single drop without moaning and screaming. In third stage, when there is complete insensibility ; cramps in abdomen, muscles and legs ; suppression of urine ; haemorrhages from stomach and intestines ; cold sweat on hands and feet.

1 9 3 Another vehement drug of storm and stress, tamed by Hahne mann, till it acts as veritable oil on the waters, is Caniharis. Cantharis is very like Lilium Tigrinum in some of its symptoms, mental and physical, and very unlike in others. It is far more inflammatory, and is rapid and destructive in its action. It is therefore curative in interne inflammatory, rapid, and destructive conditions. It should be compared with Merc. cor. and A rsenicum. Let us first give the black-type symptoms from Allen's Encyclopedia, that is to say, the symptoms repeatedly caused and cured by Caniharis. It will be observed that, while Caniharis produces intense inflammations and burnings on mucous membranes generally, and on the skin, its great action is or. the genito-urinary system, and especially on kidneys and bladder. Diarrhoea, consisting of blood and mucus. Violent diarrhoea, with intolerable burning; and intolerable burning in the anus. Violent pain in the bladder, with frequent urging to urinate. Fearful pain in the bladder. Intolerable tenesmus (straining). Tenesmus and strangury (spasm of bladder) ; the urine squeezed out drop by drop. Violent, burning, cutting pains in neck of bladder. Before, during and after urinating, fearful cutting pains in the urethra. Urine scalds him. It. is passed drop by drop. Urging to urinate, with burning in urethra. Constant urging to urinate : urine was passed drop by drop, with extreme pain. Priapism.
